Mental Health Part One: Episodes 1 & 2

Let’s start talking about our mental health in a new way that approaches the topic with honesty and understanding. Mental health is a huge topic that affects so many areas of our life, so there will be a series of episodes on this topic, including interviews with practitioners and professionals in the field.

In this first episode, while introducing the topic I am focusing on 3 main points to open up this very important conversation:

1. We need to remove the stigma associated with mental health challenges.

2. We don’t have to figure anything out or fix anyone, including us.

3. No one is watching you. We don’t have to prove ourselves to anyone.

Anxiety is a part of the human condition, and it’s quite common, but often times it is something that we don’t openly talk about, despite the fact that most of us experience anxiety quite often. We may not realize that many successful, respected, and wise people struggle with anxiety. It’s relatable and it’s common. So one of the most helpful things we can do for ourselves is to be aware of this emotion and start to use our talents, hobbies, and resources as a means to cope with and overcome the challenges that result from living in an anxious state.
