A 10 minute long walk is immeasurably better than no walk at all.
A little bit of wellness in your life is SO MUCH better than none at all.
But what is wellness? And how do we know if we’re doing it or not?
Is wellness easier said than done?
Thankfully, wellness is easy to live.
Wellness is using resources available in your immediate environment to live in harmony and in alignment with the life unfolding for you. To live well is to use what is natural and what nurtures the body, mind, emotions and spirit (energy). You already have everything you need within you and around you.
The place we start is by cleansing and eliminating the old. We simply admit and acknowledge everything in our immediate environment that is not producing good results, that which holds us back, and that which weighs us down. We look at food, devices, cleanliness, chemicals, products, fantasies, relationships, obligations, finances, business, professional, work, hobbies, thought patterns, interactions and our daily environment to identify where things are out of order.
We always know what’s not working smoothly because we feel restless about it. A smoker feels restless and anxious when they think about quitting. The addiction can make the person want to smoke even more when they are intending to quit. One less cigarette a day is much better than one more cigarette a day. In any situation that bogs us down, we know what is creating the “problem” and we’re at our best if we acknowledge it and admit. Because when in denial, the negative behavior grows when it’s not addressed.
Letting go of the old, or overcoming some bad habits in life requires consistency. It doesn’t always require money, and it does require time set aside for self care. That should sound refreshing and not intimidating. Even a few minutes of self reflection per day, in a quiet spot, with focus on nice deep breathing and the intention to relax, can bring about enormous results. It’s free and doesn’t take up a lot of time.
Once the intention is there, we naturally start to gravitate toward positive changes, even if by slow progression. The key, again, is consistency. Just a tiny bit of something good added to our daily routine can bring about numerous benefits. Some of these benefits are felt over time, and some are felt immediately. Something as simple as adding one good habit to the daily diet can be felt both immediately and increasingly over time.
As we add small benefits to our daily lifestyle, we will keep being inspired to find more. That can happen naturally and almost without us realizing it. We can end up looking back in a year and be astounded of how far we’ve come with better wellness – in other words, we notice how much better we really do feel by being consistent about the small adjustments and alignments we were able to make by intending to.
Small things can grow when attended to. If living well, and in harmony, wasn’t something you’ve attended to in the past, the start you make now will grow at pace over time. Look within and look to nature to find the tings that resonate for your wellbeing.
Starting small, simple, and free is a first step toward huge results.
